The Winton Council were successful at receiving
ACOS, EU & NOP Accredited funding from the Drought Communities
Programme and some of this was used for the
Saleyard lighting upgrade. The new lighting
has made working all hours of the day and
night safer for the stock and workers. The new
lighting lights up all of the saleyards making the
operational hours 24 hours.

Other improvements include, upgrade to the
yards inside and out. The old mesh has been
replaced with cattle rail making the yards a lot
safer, reducing chances of bruising and reducing
stress on the stock. The new single ramp had

cattle rail yards. Some of the old selling pens
have been taken out and replaced with three
new six deck spelling yards.
The yards are now ACOS, EU, National standard
and NOP accredited. The yards can provide
the following services for cattle of these codes,
spelling, weighing and NLIS reading and
transferring. A clean ramp for unloading and
loading, good quality organic hay, clean troughs
and yards will be available for stocks stay.
